L’Arco Gotico di Gerano è un’importante struttura lignea decorativa realizzata nel 1883. Non si tratta di una struttura permanente, ma di un raffinato esempio di architettura effimera che viene montato annualmente in occasionedella storica Infiorata di Gerano dedicata alla Madonna del Cuore ( festeggiata la prima Domenica dopo S.Marco ) e in occasione del compatrono di Gerano S.Rocco ( festeggiato il 16 Agosto ).
L’arco viene montato sapientemente e con le dovute cautele, considerando la sua storicità e importanza, dai confratelli delle rispettive confraternite una settimana prima dei relativi festeggiamenti.Un robusto tavolo, considerando il peso della “macchina” di circa 400 chili che trasporta la Madonna portata a mano da 8 confratelli, viene posizionato sotto il più grande arco centrale e abbellito con fiori e merletti per l’occasione ed attende la Madonna del Cuore dopo la processione per le vie del paese.
Un finale e commovente ultimo passaggio sulle note dall’Ave Maria del celebre compositore Austriaco Franz Schubert , fa si che la “macchina” della Madonna, dopo il toccante passaggio sull’Infiorata, lo raggiunga e vi venga posizionata sopra..
Nel 2023, nella ricorrenza del suo 140° anno dalla realizzazione, è stato presentato un dettagliato opuscolo al riguardo a cura di Giuseppe Tommaso Patrizi, già autore di altri scritti inerenti la storia di Gerano.

The Gothic Arch of Gerano – 1883
The Gothic Arch of Gerano is an important decorative wooden structure created in 1883. It is not a permanent structure, but a refined example of ephemeral architecture that is assembled each year for the historic Infiorata of Gerano dedicated to the Madonna del Cuore (celebrated on the first Sunday after Saint Mark’s Day) and on the occasion of the co-patron saint of Gerano, Saint Roch (celebrated on August 16).
The arch is carefully assembled, with due caution given its historical importance, by members of the respective confraternities about a week before the celebrations. A sturdy table, designed to support the weight of the “machine” (about 400 kilograms) that carries the Madonna and is borne by hand by eight confraternity members, is placed beneath the large central arch and decorated with flowers and lace for the occasion. It awaits the Madonna del Cuore after the procession through the streets of the village.
A final and moving passage, accompanied by the notes of the Ave Maria by the famous Austrian composer Franz Schubert, allows the “machine” of the Madonna—after its touching passage over the Infiorata—to reach it and be placed upon it.
In 2023, on the occasion of the 140th anniversary of its construction, a detailed booklet on the subject was presented, curated by Giuseppe Tommaso Patrizi, already the author of other writings concerning the history of Gerano.
